Faux Quilted Bag

Hello all you lovely crafters, quilters

A while back I made a tote bag to carry my crafting supplies. I especially made it for my Crafter's Companion Ultimate tool. If you are not familiar with that. The Ultimate tool is a paper scoring tool. It is used to make cards and boxes for gifts etc.
I made my tote out of fat quarters and I added pockets to the inside and the outside. I also embroidered a few flowers and the named my tote My crafting tote.

Why I call this faux quilting is because I did not use quilt blocks. I made a fabric sandwich with batting sewed each side down by measuring out lines and making squares and then sewed it down with my sewing machine. Once I had that all done I but it together. Here is a picture of my quilt.
I also made a pocket on the outside and one on the inside. The one on the outside I embrodered the words My crafting tote and used a design from my brother scan n cut zodiac signs Gemini.

Here is a picture of the tote filled with the Ultimate tool and supplies.
Thank you for reading my blog if you have.

Motor bike and pinup girl Thank you Sarah Payne Quilter & Screen Sensation

Hello all you awesome crafters,

I am updating my Motorbike tee shirt.
I used the screen sensation stamp system to stamp out the word Vintage underneath the rubber burn of the motorbike. I used a different alphabet stamp from Recollections stamp products. I do have the screen sensation alphabet stamp set but they are way to large for my purpose. However I did use the Screen Sensation New silver ink in the large pot.

There are many ways I could have put this word on. One way would have been to cut it out in silver vinyl  or made my own Vintage word stamp with my Brother Scan n Cut. I could have also embroidered it on with my Singer embroidery machine. There are many other ways as well. My choice was to use the screen sensation. I also used a wonderful water pen to achieve my finished work on the word Vintage.
In picture one you will see the vintage word only printed out on the tee shirt. Notice the transparency of the word.

In picture two you will see the word again but this time I went back and filled in by hand using the water brush and the screen sensation new silver ink.
In picture three you will see the water brush that I used. The water brush product is made by Art. I used a round brush. You fill it with water give it a squeeze fill the tip with the water and pick up your paint or medium you are using. I found the flow with the screen sensation ink worked much better then using a regular dry paint brush. These brushes are excellent for using with water color paints and sumi ink to do sumi painting. Very nice indeed.

I have been working on something for my husband, in between making my cushion cover for the 16x16 cushion I am making. I have been doing a bit of screen sensation. I took one of my husbands tee shirts and printed on it. Still in the making just letting it dry and then I will iron it to set in the design. When I have it ready I will be stamping on to it the word Vintage. As this is a vintage motor bike and pin up featured from the 1950's. Thanks to a great product called Screen Sensation.

I did see it demonstrated by a lovely British Lady Sarah Payne. Sarah is a quilter and also a demonstrator of products on a show called Create and Craft. I am following her lead her. She demonstrated this design and I was intrigued and had to have it. Here is my rendition of her creation.

Sarah is a renowned quilter and sewest.  She has her own usb on quilting and sewing. I endorse her usb products and her creations. Thank you Sarah for your creativity and the knowledge that you share with the world. You can find her on facebook and youtube.

Having fun with my Brother Scan n Cut

Hello all you crafty lovers,

I was finally making a project that I put on hold. I was late at giving my hubby his Father's day gift. Last year I made him a glass plate with a duck design via my favorite magic tool. My Brother Scan n Cut. I will show you a picture of that when I get a chance. I also made him a card with a duck aperture.  this year I did not make him a card but I did make a coffee mug. Well by that I mean I cut out a design and a sentiment in vinyl. I purchased a ceramic mug and then just added the vinyl.
I used vinyl from Brother and made for the Brother Scan n Cut.

Here is a picture of the mug.

Here is a picture of last years Father's day gift and card. Funny I used the same vinyl for the duck design as I did for the Dachshund.    I used three d foam sticky to raise the ducks off of the card. I also made the matching envelope. The Brother scan n cut is really just a magical tool. I really feel that the sky is the limit.

Thank you so much for stopping by and reading.
Have a crafty creation day,

 Hello again,
Update on my cushion. I decided to change the color of the center of my cushion from Navy blue to white. I found that it looked much brighter and that my design showed up much brighter then on the dark navy blue fabric.
I now have the front sewed together and I am ready to make the backing for the cushion. I will be doing that tomorrow. Night time now and I am done crafting for the day. I think it came out pretty good considering my quilt squares were hard to match up. Not dead nuts but looks good and has a 2d-3d appearance. I cannot wait till it is completed. When it is I will add a picture of the finished cushion.
Without further ado Here is the front of my cushion.

Hello there,
Today I am going to share with you a project that I am working on. I am trying to make a quilted design pillow/cushion. I am using a 16x16 inch pillow and I am making a cover for it. The quilt pieces that I am using are vintage at this point. They are over 25 years old. I was originally planning on making a bed quilt. I think it was for a full size bed. I started out hand cutting the pieces. Navy blue for one set of squares and white with navy blue starts for the second set of squares and it would have been alternated between the two fabrics. I had a burgundy fabric for the backing of the quilt.
I was to hand stitch all the pieces together then sew the batting/wading and back side together. I never did pick out my sash color for around the quilt. Needless to say it never did make it into this world.

Instead I have taken some of the pieces and machined sewed them together to form a frame around the center design. The center at present is a piece of the navy blue fabric that I had for the squares of the quilt. I am not sure at this point if I purchased a navy blue set of cotton cheap bed sheets and cut it up for the quilt pieces. I had made navy blue curtains from sheets for matching with the quilt.

The piece of fabric is 111/8x111/8 inches. On the diagonal top left corner to bottom right corner it is 171/8 inches. Set of squares top bottom and sides are 165/8 long both the top and the bottom. The sides are 10 inches each set left and right sides. The top pieces consist of 5 squares and the side consist of 3 squares.

The center design is created with a screen printing product call Screen Sensation. The designs are a map of a zodiac birth chart and a zodiac sign Gemini. The screen sensation product also has inks that you use to do the screen printing. I used a Pearlescent white color and a copper color on navy. In some respects I like it but then I think a white background with a dark color would be better and the design would stand out more. I could use white with navy blue ink for the birth chart and maybe gold ink for the zodiac sign. I am also planning on doing a design on the navy blue squares. Not really sure about it yet.
With that said here is a picture of my pillow top so far. I do have decide on the design for the navy blue squares and  than sew it together.  Add the back pieces of the star fabric and make the back with an envelope back opening.
Here is the front so far.
Thank you for looking and reading if you have. If you wish to leave a comment please do.
